What is the Short Film Studio?

This program will support three filmmakers by developing, producing, and financing their live action short films—championing bold, original stories that offer fresh, unseen perspectives.

The Short Film Studio challenges filmmakers to push creative boundaries and elevate their work by combining Dolby’s cutting-edge technologies with Antigravity Academy’s production expertise. Offering comprehensive support from early development through completion, the studio is led by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Carlos López Estrada, Antigravity’s Head of Production Valerie Bush, and Antigravity’s Head of Film & TV Winsor Yuan.

What do I need to apply?

1 Script (12 pages or fewer), 1 intro video, 1 director’s deck, 1 directing sample. See FAQs below for more details.

What will participants gain from the program?

Selected filmmakers will receive a $35,000 production budget, a dedicated producer and a dedicated creative executive from Antigravity Academy who will offer hands-on support through each stage of the filmmaking process. All films will be completed using Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, ensuring top-tier creative and technical quality. Antigravity Academy will serve as the film studio, offering leadership, feedback, and greenlighting projects before production. Participants will also be paired with industry mentors experienced in their film's subject matter.

By the end of the program, filmmakers will have a completed short film ready for festival submission, along with valuable industry experience. The program begins in spring 2025, with films completed by fall.
